The 2020 NFL has come and gone and there were plenty of storylines. The Green Bay Packers left many around the league puzzled at a few of the moves they made. However, there were many teams that nearly perfected this years draft and even had a few prospects slide back and be drafted later than projected. Today, we will take a look at the steals of the 2020 NFL Draft!
Tristan Wirfs, OT, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Seen by many as a possible top five pick, Tristan Wirfs of Iowa dropped right into the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who trade up one spot, to select the star offensive tackle. Wirfs has plenty of upside and will be an instant starter protecting newly acquired quarterback Tom Brady. I'm sure the Tampa Bay brass were drooling at the mouth seeing Wirfs slide back so far.
CeeDee Lamb, WR, Dallas Cowboys
If you told me that CeeDee Lamb would be the third wide receiver off the board at pick seventeen, I would't have believed you. In my mock draft, I had him at pick 12 to the Oakland Raiders, as did many others who had him much higher than 17. Now the Cowboys have a dynamic duo in Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb who will continue to terrorize secondaries across the leagues.
Jonathan Taylor, RB, Indianapolis Colts
Debatably the nations top running back had to wait until pick 41 when the Indianapolis Colts traded up to make the acquisition. This might be as close to highway robbery as it can get. Now the Colts backfield will feature the talents of Marlon Mack and Jonathan Taylor. Those two running behind that offensive line will be scary.
Trevon Diggs, CB, Dallas Cowboys
Many mock drafts had Diggs being selected in the first round by the Cowboys but they were lucky enough for him to be available come round two. Diggs will come in and immediately fill the hole left by free agent cornerback Byron Jones.
James Proche, WR, Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens had a stellar draft and topped it off when they were able to snag the SMU product in the sixth round. I am a huge fan of Proche and actually expected him to be taken a whole round earlier. Proche has some of the best hands in the draft and will be exciting to watch alongside QB Lamar Jackson.
